Much as on his full-length "Shuffling Data", Brooklyn-based Joel 'Jvox' Tallent brings his uniquely multitextured, emotional vibe to his latest 7" vinyl single. Opening with the low rider-meets-forest jazziness of "Sunshine", synths and xylophone contradict a script of urban found-sounds, rainfall and bird chirps, imagining a quick ride out of the hustle of the city and into the ambience of a peaceful, FSoL-like tropical paradise. On the flip side, "BTO" is an entirely less easy-going adventure: a narrative of nervous, sharp breakbeats and stuttering hihats speeding past blaring, dopplered horns and pads, before the whole of the track gets spun backwards with a stammering, CD-like sampling effect.
