Japan
ent is the solo musical alias of Atsushi Horie who hails from Nagasaki in the south of Japan. He came to Tokyo at 18 years old and shortly after started playing in local bands. Horie's main gig as frontman (on vocal/guitar/keyboard) of the US indie and BritPop influenced band STRAIGHTENER has a devoted and somewhat large audience in Japan. However, Atsushi became attracted to Leftfield electronics and Post-rock several years ago and in 2006 he started to write songs that infused more of those genres' elements in an effort to make something more sentimental and deeply personal. Around this time he decided to name this new project "ent". And, after three years, the first album "Welcomed stranger" which was made little by little in parallel with his main band's activity was released via the Preco imprint in Japan on February, 2009. n5MD has recently licensed the album and will be repackaging it for release in 2010.
