Dutch electronic music duo Tangent returns with their seventh album, Disclosure. Emerging from a disquieting three-year period of dormancy, the album finds Robbert Kok and Ralph van Reijendam reconnecting with Tangent’s distinctive electronic language while pushing it into new and unexpected territory.

Robbert’s near-ghostly, dystopian synth washes remain central to the duo’s sound, but on Disclosure they are joined by an expanded palette of modular synthesis, bringing a warmer, more tactile analog presence to Tangent’s carefully constructed atmospheres. The modular additions also find their way into Ralph’s percussion, adding organic movement and texture to his characteristically precise, IDM-influenced rhythmic programming. The result is a sound that feels simultaneously familiar and renewed, giving Tangent’s shadowy digital landscapes greater physicality and depth.

The album’s title speaks directly to the circumstances surrounding its creation. Following a period of personal setbacks and an extended hiatus, Disclosure represents the duo’s return to Tangent and, more simply, their desire to create together again. There is a sense of emergence throughout the album: a gradual return to motion, connection, and sound. Learn more about Tangent
